02/08/06    Kalvenes signs

Dundee United have finally captured Christian Kalvenes on a two year deal after he was released by Brann Bergen in Norway. The 29 year old left back will be in the squad against Rangers at the weekend and will hopefully provide a much needed boost after the early season criticism and from much of the press after the game at the weekend. Apparently Charlie Miller played his own particular role in persuading Kalvenes to come to United with the Norwegian making the following comments after his signing:

"I have played only 23 games, starting maybe just half of those, and I am very keen to get back playing every week.

"To play in the Scottish Premier League and it is something I am looking forward to.

"Charlie in particular urged me to join Dundee United, saying they are a nice club with a good support who can do well if they get the right players in.

"I am very pleased that the clubs have agreed a fee and that I can make the move to Scotland.

"Charlie, Robbie Winters and Cato Guntveit, who played for Aberdeen, have told me all about what it is like."
